Once a person is a foreigner, she never ceases to be a foreigner. No place is hers, except her shadow. This film features award-winning, movement-based interdisciplinary artist Eiko Otake, who has been a pivotal figure in site-specific dance for more than five decades.a foreigner, 4 min, 2023

 

‘a foreigner’ was filmed during Eiko Otake's ‘i invited myself vol. II’ exhibition at the Fine Arts Center at Colorado College in 2023 and was included in her ‘i invited myself vol. III’ exhibition at the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia.

Deleite honors the nuanced experience of motherhood by examining the embodied weight—both physical and psychological—of maternal caregiving. The title itself, Deleite, plays on the dual meaning in Brazilian Portuguese: ‘delight’ and ‘of milk,’ capturing the complex interplay of joy and struggle that defines parenting.

Filmed in Colorado following the Waldo Canyon Fire that devastated thousands of acres of forest and burned 350 homes, this work reveals the beauty within a ravaged landscape and explores the various idiosyncrasies of an unresolved relationship.

Madam and Evening: A hundred moments explores the notion that dreams exist as individual experiences creating an imagined reality of unique aesthetic possibilities. The project began as a documentation of the performance installation Madam and Evening conceived by Dolo McComb and Adam Dickerson at Colorado College and presented by the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.
